A new set of rooster-themed stamps to celebrate the Year of the Rooster based on the Chinese zodiac will be released by the China Post Group Co.
The stamp set is composed of two stamps with a value of 2.4 yuan. The stamps can also be availed online through WeChat.
The coming year is considered to be the Year of the Rooster according to the Chinese lunar calendar. It is the 10th sign in the Chinese zodiac.
Chinese fortune teller and "feng shui" expert Marites Allen said that "metal would mean guns, assassinations, killings could happen. We have to be very careful, we have to look out for each other."
Allen also said that people have to be watchful in business "because cash flow will be very tight."
She said that although the coming year might be difficult, the Year of the Rooster is considered the "peach blossom year" and will be a lucky year for love, especially for those born in the year of the dragon and ox.
The coming Year of the Rooster starts on Jan. 28, 2017, which is Chinese Lunar New Year Day, and ends on Feb. 15, 2018.
The designer of the new Chinese stamp is Meilin Han. He said that Chinese people feel close to the rooster as it reminds them of family values.
"The stamps symbolize family harmony," he added.
Han is now 80 years old and is well known for his paintings and sculptures. Han's passions include children and animals.
This is the third time that Han designed stamps.
The company's website is selling a sheet of 32 stamps with a face value of 38.4 yuan and can cost up to about 150 yuan.
The popular online store Taobao is selling the stamp sets for 25 yuan.
