The most recent "Arrow" Season 5 episode 10 spoilers have revealed that Black Canary, also known as Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), will return to Star City from Arrowcave. Her return in the Arrowverse came as a big surprise since she met her demise is Season 4.
Executive producer Greg Berlati, who contributed to the building of superhero network in the DC Universe, revealed in The CW's press day for the Television Critics Association (TCA) over the weekend that Black Canary's return in "Arrow" Season 5 is something that was long planned. He added that it is a requirement to develop the character, afar from the series.
"We made a deal at the end of that season to bring her back for a bunch of episodes," CBR quoted Berlati as saying. "Katie is a part of the fabric of the show. Because the show, like a comic book, can move in different ways, and characters go and come, everybody that's ever been a part of the key and core ensemble has always had a place at the table for our show."
At the moment, Cassidy is included in three DC TV shows. She was cast as Black Siren on "The Flash" in the previous season, and viewers have yet to see her in "the Legends of Tomorrow." With Berlati's statement, he cleared the earlier speculations of Cassidy's return in "Arrow" Season 5.
During the TCA, executive producer Wendy Mericle teased that Black Canary's reappearance is a big possibility at the conclusion of Season 5, adding there would be no Green Arrow, without Black Canary. The upcoming episodes will see the fruition of the series' game plan, TV Line quoted co-showrunner Marc Guggenheim as saying.
Moreover, "Arrow" Season 5 will see Oliver Queen/ Green Arrow's (Stephen Amell) villain Prometheus. Although the producers have been keeping mum about the details of the new season's big bad, it is expected that he will lead the pack of new villains in the Star City.
Oliver Queen/ Green Arrow will reportedly be in shock when he would know the real identity behind the mask of Prometheus. Viewers will see the skills and force of the new villain that is comparable to the Dark Archer of Season 1.
