When the "The Walking Dead" Season 7A ended, the fate of the dreadlocks-rocking and glasses-wearing Heath, played by Corey Hawkins, was left in the balance. In the only episode of Season 7 where he was featured in, Heath was surrounded by walkers on a bridge. He tried his best to protect Tara from a pack of walkers by distracting them but Tara ultimately fell off the bridge and into the water, until she was spirited away to an unfamiliar village. From that moment on, fans never saw Heath again.
Heather first appeared in the Season 6 premiere, titled "First Time Again." Since his first appearance, he has appeared in six episodes in total. However, the Season 7 episode titled "Swear" left his fate undecided, and the midseason finale did not shed light on it either.
At the 2017 Television Critics' Association (TCA) press tour where Hawkins was in attendance, the actor opened up to Collider about the possibilities of seeing his character again when the series returns. However, he emphasized that nothing is certain at this point because they are just possibilities.
"Me and Scott have had a lot of conversations; Scott has been great in terms of asking and talking and really trying to figure out where the character was coming from and going and you know, professional things take you where they take you, that's normal. But we left it open so I will just say there is always a possibility, there is always a way," said the actor. Hawkins attended the press tour to promote FOX's new series, "24: Legacy" and his upcoming major feature film, "Kong: Skull Island."
At this point in the story of "The Walking Dead" comics that the TV series has reached, Heath is still very much alive. In fact, one iconic moment will even feature his leg being blown off during Rick group's war against Negan and the Saviors, Comicbook reported. However, it remains to be seen if that particular scene will be realized on TV, or if it will even feature Heath.
"The Walking Dead" Season 7 returns on Feb. 12 on AMC. Watch the Season 7B trailer here:
