The Android Nougat update rollout continues but not without glitches, which specifically affected owners of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge and those using the HTC 10. But getting the latest Google mobile OS appears to be a smooth sailing for the Sony Xperia Z5 series, so far.
It looks like the general deployment of the Android Nougat update is off to a rough start, at least for the 2016 flagships issued by Samsung, HTC and OnePlus. According to WCCFTech, the supposed January 17 Nougat rollout for the S7 and S7 Edge in China turned out a huge disappointment for millions of users.
Reports indicated that shortly after the update went live, Samsung was forced to halt the delivery of the Nougat update. The move led to Chinese users turning to social media to post their gripes that downloading the latest OS build was proving to be impossible.
WCCFTech said the OTA update rollout was plagued by bugs and as a result "Samsung had to pause the rollout for some time." The deployment resumed shortly but the same report noted Samsung decided to replace the official version of the OS with a beta build, indicating that fixes will need to be applied before the update is redeployed.
When Samsung plans to send out the final Nougat build for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge the report did not mention. But WCCFTech noted that what happened seems to be identical with the botched Nougat jump for the HTC 10 and OnePlus 3 and 3T. The OS upgrade was rushed so problems inevitably came up.
Thankfully, Nougat 7.0 for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge in UK is not afflicted by the same problems. "The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge users in UK are not reporting any issue with the update, which is 1.2GB in size," the same report indicated.
And it's the same scene that is playing out for many Xperia Z5 users so far, GSM Arena reported. Android 7.0 Nougat is now a go for the models belonging to the Android flagship and no issues have emerged to date.
That's like saying the changes - among them split-screen multitasking, improved battery life and Google Now integration on the home screen - to be delivered Z5 users will surely get minus any major worries. But the Android Nougat update is 1.3GB-heavy, the same report recommended getting the file over Wi-Fi and preferably with a fully-charged battery.
