Gigabyte has recently introduced the new Aorus GeForce GTX 1080 Xtreme video card that is factory overclocked. The new product is part of their new Aorus line extension along with the Kaby Lake motherboards.
With the NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti release still a few weeks away, there is still time for third-party companies to try and sell custom GTX 1080 cards. Gigabyte's new Aorus GeForce GTX 1080 Xtreme version joins the list of several custom AIB cards for the Pascal-powered GPU.
There are two modes available for the new Gigabyte video card. The Gigabyte Aorus GeForce GTX 1080 Xtreme can enter Gaming or OC mode with the latter reaching the boost clock of up to 1932MHz, PC Gamer has learned.
NVIDIA's Founders Edition of the GTX 1080 can easily reach more than 2000MHz through basic overclocking. However, the problem is that it can get hot and the stock cooler can barely keep up.
The Gigabyte Aorus GeForce GTX 1080 features three exhaust fans with large copper heatsinks in the middle plus the shroud with RGB LEDs that can be customized, WCCF Tech reported. It can be changed using Gigabyte's AORUS RGB spectrum software which is similar to other custom cards' applications.
Display ports include two HDMI 2.0 ports for VR headsets such as the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive. There are also three DisplayPort, one DVI connector and one more HDMI 2.0 for those with monitors that also have speakers.
Another interesting fact is that the Aorus Xtreme edition will most likely carry the new GTX 1080 Ti and other Pascal GP102 cards in the near future. It will also have custom cards for the new AMD Radeon Vega 10 that was demonstrated recently running "Doom" at 4K.
Gigabyte will be selling the Aorus GeForce GTX 1080 Xtreme edition possibly for more than $800. Users will be given a 4-year warranty but they have to register the product online.
