Atalanta netted the first goal of the match in the 21st minute with a right-footer by Italian forward Andrea Petagna off a cross from Swiss midfielder Remo Freuler.
I Biancocelesti was able to level the count in the first half injury time with a goal from Serbian winger Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to enter the break at 1-1.
Italian striker Ciro Immobile scored the winning goal with a penalty kick in the 68th to hand head coach Simone Inzaghi's squad their fourth victory in their last five outings.
