With "Supernatural" Season 12 poised to return to the small screens after its winter break, avid fans of the CW series can expect to see exciting and suspenseful plotlines in upcoming episodes. Latest spoiler news teased of Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean's (Jensen Ackles) future with the two Winchester brothers each having a different outlook on life.
Previous seasons of "Supernatural" featured story arcs that explored both Sam and Dean trying to live a normal life. Turning away from a family legacy where Winchesters hunted villainous supernatural beings, the two siblings previously attempted to start a life that does not involve killing demons.
However, Sam and Dean's efforts to become ordinary citizens were unsuccessful. Various events pulled the brothers back to their roots and their demon-hunting legacy.
Despite the Winchester brothers' acceptance that their lives will never be normal, the two protagonists are still hoping for a bright future although each has their own vision of how it will look like. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, "Supernatural" showrunner Andrew Dabb shared that Sam and Dean each have a different idea of their future as hunters.
Dean would be more than willing to continue fighting demons until his death, especially if it ensures the safety of his loved ones and the world, according to Dabb. However, Sam's vision includes a future where he could have more personal time and to find a successor who can continue their quest.
Dabb mentioned that beloved characters trying to find their place in the world serve as critical part of the "Supernatural" Season 12 story. He explained, "That has become a real focal point for us in this season: Everybody looking for their place, looking for the way to do what they think is best in a world where it's far, far too easy to do your worst."
Meanwhile, the upcoming episodes of the CW series will feature the British Men of Letters showing more interest in the Winchester brothers' activities. In an earlier interview with TVLine, Ackles teased of the said organization's attempts to recruit Sam and Dean, as well as a few confrontations and disagreements over hunting methodologies.
"Supernatural" Season 12 will return with episode 9 titled "First Blood" on Jan. 26, on the CW. Watch a teaser clip for the upcoming episode below:
