On Jan. 30, the Miss Universe 2016 grand coronation will start the ball rolling with the announcement of the Top 12. The Top 12 beauty queens will walk down the runway in their sexy swimsuits. These beauty queens are chosen based on their performance during the three days of preliminary events.
The preliminary results are consisting of interviews, swimsuit presentation, evening gown competition and the global online fan voting. Then, it will be dropped down to the Top 9 based on the nine highest average score from the global fan vote and judges.
The nine beautiful ladies will then compete with the evening gown competition and the Top 6 will be chosen. The six elegant ladies will have the Final Question round and the three intelligent beauty queens with the highest scores from the Final Question round will move to the Top 3 for the Final Look.
The next Miss Universe will be chosen by the judges and home viewers based on overall performance. Reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach will crown her successor at the end of the coronation.
Recently, there are awards given to the main contest. However, these are not considered as the major special awards. The Miss Flawless of the Universe is Miss Venezuela Mariam Habach, as well as the Miss Phoenix Elegant. The Miss Phoenix Jewel is Miss Philippines Maxine Medina and the Miss Phoenix Smile is Miss Indonesia Kezia Warouw, the Inquirer.net reported.
The American comedy star Steve Harvey will host the pageant. The American model Ashley Graham will serve as the backstage insider. The resident beauty queen judges are Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres of Puerto Rico and Miss Universe 1994 Sushmita Sen of India, CNN Philippines reported.
The Solar Entertainment was assigned to provide broadcast coverage of the beauty pageant in the Philippines. The three giant networks will secure the rights to air the live coverage of the 65th Miss Universe pageant. These networks are GMA Network, ABS-CBN, and TV5.
The 65th Miss Universe pageant will be held on Jan. 30, Monday, at Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines. It will be the second time that the beauty pageant will skip the entire year.
The Miss Universe pageant will run from 8 am until 11 am Philippine Standard Time. For the United States and other countries outside the UTC +8:00-time zone, it will be Jan. 29 in their local time zones.
