The contestants competed on stage wearing Yamamay swimwear and footwear by Chinese Laundry at the 65th Miss Universe Preliminary Competition on Thursday, Jan. 26 at the Mall of Asia Arena. Miss Universe 2016 looked sizzling hot in the bikini. Check out the photos in the slideshow above.
Miss India Roshmitha Harimurthy looked ravishing in her blue bikini designed by Yamamay. Meanwhile, Lara Dutta, Miss Universe 2000, tweeted about Harimurthy and came out in support of her.
"This is a girl I believe in, now it's time for you to make her win. Tweet Miss Universe India to vote! India, it's time to stand united and vote," Dutta tweeted on Jan. 27.
Meanwhile, Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres said in a statement that she is looking for someone who can handle herself with "grace and confidence" while being in the journey with Miss Universe 2016 title.
"I'm looking forward to finding a woman who can handle herself with grace and confidence through her journey with this prestigious title. I understand it's a beauty pageant however beauty will not be the only factor. Personality and confidence will blow the judges away every time," Torres said via CNN Philippines.
Another judge, Francine LeFrak stated that for her beauty should be from the inside.
"Miss Universe must be as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. She must want to use her voice and platform to give voice to the voiceless."
For Fred Nelson, executive producer and President of the People's Choice Awards that "extra spark" is crucial. Nelson looks for someone who can represent the organization globally and advocate important causes.
Miss Universe 2016 will also see R&B group Boyz II Men performing on the main day of the event.
