Since "Making A Murderer" Season 2 was confirmed in July 2016, Netflix has been keeping mum about the details of the docuseries. Last week, a Netflix official provided an array of hope for fans, who have been waiting for a long time to hear new details about its release date.
The Netflix official did not provide an exact date of release for "Making A Murderer" Season 2, but confirmed its release later in 2017. The new episodes will include new developments in the case that follows the story of convicted Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey.
"The story is still ongoing, so you will see new episodes coming sometime this year as this story continues to unfold," Netflix's vice president of original content Cindy Holland told USA Today. "Laura and Moira are (in Manitowoc) shooting regularly and working on what the right story is to tell in the next set, so we're deferring to them on when it will be ready."
Holland told the publication that Netflix is trying to be discreet about the details of "Making A Murderer" Season 2 because the case is ongoing. She added that even other Netflix officials have no idea about the documentary.
Meanwhile, Avery's new lawyer Kathleen Zellner has no recent updates about Avery's case on her Twitter. The last time she updated her social media account, she announced that there is a possibility that several evidence may have been planted at the crime scene.

Early in January, Zellner revealed that her 2017 goal is to set her wrongfully convicted clients free, including Avery. In previous reports, it has been revealed that she is in contact with a Swedish scientist, who could help prove Avery's innocence through the latest scientific technology. All these developments may be included when "Making A Murderer" Season 2 returns.
Avery's former lawyer Dean Strang recently opened up about his thoughts on the second run of the docuseries. In an interview with Express, he said that he is unsure about his participation in the new season of the true crime drama series. However, he confirmed that he is willing to help if the creators need him in the story.
