Things are starting to heat up in "The Walking Dead." Executive producer Greg Nicotero recently said that crazy things are bound to happen in the upcoming Season 7 finale of the hit AMC series.
In a recent sit-down interview with Comic Book, Nicotero dished on what to expect in the finale of "The Walking Dead" Season 7. While Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) will remain a constant threat to Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the rest of the group, the executive producer hints that the season finale will end on an altogether different note.
"It's an amazing script," Nicotero said. "It's everything that you would ever want. It's thrilling. It's emotional. It's powerful. Everything that's, when our show fires on all cylinders you can't stop it."
Nicotero added that the showrunners have been laying the seeds to build up the season finale, confidently proclaiming that it is going to be epic. However, he is uncertain whether or not there will be another major cliffhanger.
"I've turned in my cut," Nicotero said. "But Scott [Gimple] hasn't made his pass on it yet so nobody's seen it."
In the second half of "The Walking Dead" Season 7, viewers will get to see whether or not Rick can reclaim the mantle of leadership. The coming episodes will heavily focus on preparing for war and gathering the supplies and numbers needed to bring Negan down.
To take down the foul-mouthed villain, Rick plans to recruit King Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Gregory (Xander Berkeley) in his fight. However, similar to how he felt, the other two leaders do not want bloodshed.
As much as viewers want to see Negan's painful death on the show, it is just not going to happen in "The Walking Dead" Season 7. Speaking to Howard Stern in late 2016, Morgan confirmed that he has finished shooting the current season and will survive until at least Season 8.
