Actor Hugh Jackman in Beijing to Promote ‘Logan’

For the March 3 opening of “Logan” in China, actor Hugh Jackman is in Beijing to promote the movie which opens simultaneously in the U.S. China having the same opening day and Jackman being in the country for the premiere only confirms how important moviegoers in the second-largest film market in the world has become in determining a movie’s box-office success.

The actor, who is undergoing treatment for skin cancer, arrived in Beijing on Wednesday to promote the film which had 14 minutes removed by China’s censors for violence and brief nudity. As a result, the version to show in China would run 123 minutes instead of the original 137 minutes.

The movie, where Jackman plays Wolverine for the last time, had him reunited with Professor X (Patrick Stewart), a father figure to Logan. The film would also introduce Laura (Dafne Keene), as Logan’s 23-year-old mutant daughter created in the lab, China Plus reported.

The film, which has received good reviews from critics, is really about family. “About this father-son relationship; taking care of someone he deeply respects and loves,” Jackman said. An 11-year-old girl suddenly shows up, and Logan is not sure if she is his daughter.

“He's no idea who she is. But she comes into his life, looking for protection and guidance, and ultimately looking for love as well. And I think that's what makes this movie so special, yes, there are three superheroes. But more importantly, they are a real family, real human beings with real feelings,” the actor continued.

No End Credits

Meanwhile, Gizmodo reported that “Logan” would not have an end credits scene. However, there would be a big surprise. It will be a teaser for “Deadpool 2” which would be shown before “Logan” shows. The teaser shows Ryan Reynolds, who upon witnessing a crime in the streets while walking, would change in a phone booth and attempt to stop the crime.
