Fox's "X-Men" pilot is beginning to take form, and the network has assembled the show's cast and it looks stunning!
A photo of the cast members during the table read for the pilot was revealed by producer Laura Shuler Donner on Twitter. She also revealed that the pilot has been given the working title "Gifted." As per Deadline, the table read Stephen Moyer, Jamie Chung, Amy Acker, Natalie Alyn Lind, Coby Bell and Joseph Morgan. The show will also star Emma Dumont, Sean Teale and Percy Hynes White. Morgan, however, will not be part of the show and was only filling in for the table read.
The pilot was written by Matt Nix and will be directed by "X-Men" vet Bryan Singer. The story focuses on two ordinary parents, Reed (Moyer) and Kate (Acker), who discover that their children possess mutant powers. As they go on the run to flee from the hostile government, the family runs into an underground network of mutants, led by Sam (Blair Redford). Together, they fight to survive.
Sam is described as "the strong-headed Native American leader of the underground network."
One of the other mutants in Fox's "X-Men" pilot is Blink, to be portrayed by Chung. She possesses powerful teleportation abilities. While her powers are useful for teleporting objects and large groups of people, they can also be destructive as she can choose to teleport only parts of the object to cut them in half.
According to Variety, Chung's Blink, a.k.a Clarice Fong, is described as "sarcastic, lively and a bit of a tomboy. Her naturally strong exuberance has taken a hit after a sudden and traumatic upheaval of her life." She later meets new people in her life and warms up to them, and regards new places her new "home."
The character previously appeared in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and was portrayed by Chinese actress Fan Bingbing.
Fox's "X-Men" series is said to be connected to a certain extent to the "X-Men" movie universe. Nix previously said that it's like the show will run with 12 to 13 episodes.
