Cathay Pacific Now Serves Tel Aviv to Hong Kong Route

Cathay Pacific marked the start of the company's Hong Kong to Israel route with the landing of an Airbus A350 at Ben-Gurion Airport on Sunday at 7:50 a.m.

It was followed by the departure of its first eastbound flight six hours later. In between the two flights that morning, the Hong Kong's flag carrier hosted an event in the C concourse where Cathay Pacific executives and Israeli officials emphasized the importance of the business and tourism links between Hong Kong and Israel.

Paul Loo, director of corporate development at Cathay Pacific, noted that Tel Aviv is a very technologically advanced business capital while Hong Kong is Asia's international financial center.

Cathay Pacific will depart from of Tel Aviv to Hong Kong four times each week at 1:50 p.m. every Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and fly from Hong Kong to Tel Aviv at 1 a.m. on the said days.

Loo noted that on top of the four regular services, the airline will also offer an additional fifth service in their autumn peak.

El Al is the only other airline offering direct flights between Hong Kong and Israel and Hong Kong, typically operating six flights every week.

Cathay Pacific is using the 12 Airbus A350 going to and from Israel. The plane is equipped with 280 seats, including 214 seats in economy class, 28 in premium economy and another 38 seats in business class.

The business class passenger will enjoy a private, diagonally positioned seat with a lateral bed extension. It also has an under-ottoman stowage, along with a touchscreen video handset and a large monitor.

Meanwhile, the economy seats feature six-way headrests, shelves to hold tablets, personal screens and amenity stowage areas.

Cathay Pacific's aircraft features teal-colored seats to match its logo.The airline will be completing an order this year for another 10 Airbus A350 to serve the route.

Just a couple of months ago, it was reported that Cathay Pacific will reduce its workforce due to disappointing profits.
