With so many Marvel movies coming up, not to mention superhero movies from other film studios, it's almost too difficult to shine and upstage the others. "Thor: Ragnarok" is getting an advantage early in the game as James Gunn teases the movie's trailer will be Marvel's best so far.
Marvel has three movies slated to hit theaters in 2017: "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "Thor: Ragnarok." The first time films have released official full trailers, while Chris Hemsworth's "Thor" has only come out with still photos so far. But the wait is worth it, "Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn assures.
When a fan asked Gunn on Twitter if he's ever seen the trailer for "Thor: Ragnarok," he answered in the affirmative. "Yes. It might be the best [Marvel Studios] trailer ever," Gunn tweeted.
That's a massive commendation, considering there are lot of Marvel movies and a lot more trailers that accompany them. This isn't the first time Gunn praised "Thor: Ragnarok." In a previous interview, Gunn lauded Taika Waititi's take on the third "Thor" movie.
According to Comicbook, Gunn told a fan he knows "a lot" about "Thor: Ragnarok" and that "it's going to be AMAZING!"
"Thor: Ragnarok" is expected to clash with "Justice League" in theaters this November, as the latter opens just a couple of weeks after "Thor 3" makes its debut in cinemas. With "Justice League" creating a lot of buzz following the release of its official trailer last week, "Thor: Ragnarok" is up for some big competition and its trailer has to bring its A game to the plate.
Meanwhile, Disney and Marvel released new footage and concept art from "Thor: Ragnarok" at the 2017 CinemaCon in Las Vegas. David Hollis, Disney's executive vice president for Theatrical Exhibition Sales & Distribution, said the third film will show "a Thor like no other," CBR reported. It was also said that Thor will don his famous winged helmet at some point in the movie.
Meanwhile, Gunn is less than two months shy from the release of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," which will be out on May 5. "Thor" will come out in cinemas Nov. 3.
