It appears that George R.R. Martin's "The Winds of Winter" will be delayed even further. There are rumblings that the sixth book in the "A Song of Fire and Ice" series will not come out this year as anticipated.
According to reports, Martin recently launched his own film studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The renowned author is said to be spending some time to set things up for his studio in the meantime.
The Stagecoach Foundation project is a non-profit film studio dedicate to helping rookie filmmakers as well as more established production houses. According to The Rolling Stone, the studio is located in a 30,000 square-foot building equipped with production facilities and offices.
As such, the launch of his new film studio is speculated to cause the delay in his "The Winds of Winter" release. Based on previous updates Martin has yet to finish the book, but assured fans that he's made some progress.
"[It is] not done yet, but I've made progress, but not as much as I hope a year ago, when I thought to be done by now," The Sun quoted Martin. "I think it will be out this year. But I thought the same thing last year."
Martin added that he has written a dozen of chapters and hundreds of pages of "The Winds of Winter." To satisfy fans' cravings for the next book, the author released a couple of excerpts last year, including a chapter on Euron Greyjoy, which was released just in time for the character's on-screen debut in "Game of Thrones" Season 6.
Meanwhile, "Game of Thrones" Season 7 is heading to HBO on July 16. The show only has 13 episodes left for its final two seasons. Things get more intense this year as Cersei Lannister, Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen are expect to go head to head in the much-awaited battle royale.
Alliances will be forged, and Cersei is speculated to marry Euron Greyjoy to strengthen her army. Speaking to MTV, Pilou Asbaek, who plays Euron on the show, teased that his character will "get satisfied" and that it's the good kind.
