It was in 2015 when the reboot movie of the "Mad Max" franchise, "Mad Max: Fury Road," entertained the mass and generated a box office success. No wonder why recent reports claim that the director of the film already has 2 sequels on-hand for the 2015 box office movie.
According to NME, George Miller, who created "Mad Max" and have directed all the films of the franchise, has confirmed that the scripts for the sequels of "Mad Max: Fury Road" are already done. He said that he and his co-writer Nico Lathouris went beyond the bottom of the franchise in order to develop interesting backstories for all the characters of the film.
The director added that one of the benefits of the movie's setbacks is the fact that they were able to have a chance in conceptualizing better backstories. It was reported by the same publication that the film should have been released 18 years ago; however, it got delayed due to weather conditions, casting problem, plots and etcetera.
On the other note, in regards to the sequel of "Fury Road," reports suggest that the second film might be entitled "Mad Max: The Wasteland," Telegraph UK reported. However, the lead star of the movie, Tom Hardy, who plays Max Rockatansky, said that the title of the sequel is not final and could change later on.
The same publication cited previous reports regarding the plot of "Mad Max: The Wasteland." It was said that the next installment may focus on the story of Imperator Furiosa, played by Charlize Theron. With that said, Hardy already provided a hint about the future of the "Mad Max" franchise. The actor said that Miller has developed sagas for Max and for Furiosa. That is why the report noted that Miller might be planning to make several installments focusing on Max, while other films of the franchise might center on Furiosa.
In regards to the release of the sequel, both actors and the director have not yet confirmed the release date of "Mad Max: The Wasteland."
