An all-new original television anime, a science-fiction story, called Tōshinki G's Flame (Ancient G's Flame) will premiere on October 12 at 7 PM on the Tokyo MX channel.
The anime is set at the end of the 21st century when there has been a revolution in the Earth's economy due to the discovery of a new source of energy called "DG Energy", short for "divine grace energy". The economic revolution has allowed humans to colonize space. However, when an expedition arrives at Pluto, a mysterious, giant lifeform called "Nergal" attacks them.
The Earth Alliance Army creates an Ancient Girls Unit (AG Unit) to fight back and use ancient robot weapons excavated from archaeological sites the world over called the "G's Flame".
The "Ancient Girls" are girls with special qualities who can pilot the robots to fight the Nergal. However, the first AG Unit suffers hits and casualties in the Jupiter Trojan campaign. Reiu Minamaya, the pilot of Unit 04, goes missing in action.
Many years later, Reika Minamiya, who is the protagonist of the anime, becomes the pilot of G's Flame when she joins the anti-Nergal AG unit to search for Reiu who is her older sister. The anime is a coming-of-age story, which also revolves around friendship, where Reika is shown overcoming her turmoil and anxieties.
The main characters and cast for Ancient G's Flame include Reika Minamiya voiced by Rie Takahashi, Luna Mariano Perez Rupiano voiced by Aya Suzuki, Jotis Pearl voiced by Kaori Ishihara, Alhena Hakim voiced by Hiromi Igarashi, Eyre voiced by Arisa Nakata, and Reiu Minamiya voiced by And Ayana Taketatsu.
Osamu Yamasaki, known for his works Time Travel Girl, ACTORS: Songs Connection among others, has drafted the original story and is the series scripts' supervisor and composer. Hisayoshi Hirasawa is the sound director of the anime, while Toshiki Kameyama is the ADR director.
The opening song "Sora," is being performed by Kuhaku Gokko and the ending song "Galactic Wind" will be performed by MARiA. The music has been composed by Shun Narita and ISAO.
Ancient G's Flame will broadcast during the 7 PM slot on Tuesdays on TOKYO MX beginning October 12, and during the 11 PM slot on Sundays on BS NTV beginning on October 17. An official website and Twitter handle have also been published for the series.
