The upcoming two-part "Avengers: Infinity War" will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, instead of Joss Whedon, who directed the first two installments from Disney and Marvel.
Russo brothers directed the box office hit "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and is also expected to handle the highly-anticipated "Captain America: Civil War."
Rumors have been circulating within the past few weeks that Whedon would be replaced by the Russo brothers in directing the new films. Both parts of the "Avengers: Infinity War" is set to start shooting in 2016 and 2017.
The addition makes four films to be committed to a single directing team-a first for marvel, according to Variety. Jon Favreau only directed two from the "Iron Man" franchise, while Whedon had two "Avengers" films, including the upcoming "Avengers: Age Of Ultron" on May 1.
However, the Russo brothers still have a contract with Sony Pictures to direct "The Gray Man" and a possible "Ghostbusters" reboot starring Channing Tatum.
Many are wondering whether the brothers are the right choice for both parts of the future film. They did surprise moviegoers with their first Marvel movie, but the directing team is mostly known for comedy flicks such as "You, Me and Dupree."
Whedon was praised on his work on the first "Avengers" film and many have expected him to direct the rest of the saga. With him out of the directing chair, the Infinity War films might contain transitions and changes to the atmosphere of the movie, according to Movie Pilot.
There is still quite a lot of time for others to react or adjust to the Russo brothers. "Avengers: Infinity War" is set to hit the big screen in May 2018 and 2019.
