Marshall Mathers famously known as the "Rap God" Eminem recently took to Twitter to give her 19.2 million followers a sneak peek of the upcoming film "Southpaw," which stars Jake Gyllenhaal as lefty boxing champ Billy "The Great" Hope.
"Sneak peek of some new stuff I've been working on in the @SouthPawMovie trailer. World premiere!" Eminem tweeted along with the trailer of the drama film, which is set to be released by the Weinstein Company on July 31.
Originally, Eminem was set to star in "Southpaw" but an application searching for Michigan film incentives of almost $9 million for the film was withdrawn in 2012, Herald Recorder has learned.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua with the screenplay written by Kurt Sutter and Richard Wenk, "Southpaw" is about a boxer on a downward spiral trying to regain his boxing career and custody of his young daughter after a tragedy.
"Southpaw" also stars "True Detective" actress Rachel McAdams, "Taken 3" actor Forest Whitaker, "Spectre" actress Naomie Harris, Paul Walker's "Furious 7" co-actor Tyrese Gibson, Iggy Azalea's "Black Widow" collaborator Rita Ora and rapper 50 Cent.
Meanwhile, Eminem is expected to release a teaser of his upcoming collaboration with 50 Cent titled "Champions" soon, according to MTV.
Also joining Gyllenhaal, Ora and 50 Cent in the "Southpaw" cast are Beau Knapp, Clare Foley, Victor Ortiz, Miguel Gomez, John Cenatiempo, Skylan Brooks, Malcolm M. Mays, David Whalen, Oona Laurence, Lana Young, Adam Ratcliffe, Ashleigh Morghan and David Dale McCue, Laura Welsh, Jake Andolina and Douglas Slygh, among others.
