Recently, Disney announced that "Mulan" is the next film that will be having its live action. It is set to follow the success of other Disney tales such as "Maleficent" and the very recent "Cinderella." Fans are also speculating on the star who will land the role of the legendary princess.
Latino Post revealed top five actresses who can embody the Disney Princess.
The first in the list is Brenda Song. Born in Carmichael, California in 1988, the actress has won several distinctions in the realm of entertainment. Such awards include 2001 Best Performance in a TV Movie - Supporting Young Actress for "The Ultimate Christmas Present" (2000), 2006 Best Role Model Young Hollywood Award for "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" (2005), 2011 Ensemble Cast Award, 2010 Phoenix Film Critics Society, 2010 Ensemble of the Year, and 2011 Central Ohio Film Critics Association Best Ensemble for "The Social Network" (2010).
Second in line is Jenna Ushkowitz. Born in Seoul, South Korea year 1986, she got inspired by artists like Britney Spears, NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, and Hanson. The actress has appeared in the television series "Little Bill" (2000), "Educated" (2001), and "Marry the Night" (2011). Currently, she is well known for her role as Tina Cohen-Chang in "Glee."
Lana Condor is also speculated to play the role of Mulan. Last Wednesday, Brian Singer announced that the actress, who is of Vietnamese descent, has been chosen to play the role of Jubilee in the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse." The mutant has the ability to send out fireworks.
Next in the list is Malese Jow. Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, she has displayed her multitude talents as an actress, songstress, and entertainer. She has landed various roles in different television series such as Geena Fabiano in "Unfabulous" (2004), Rachel in "Hannah Montana" (2009), Cadence Nash in "The Troop" (2011), Anna in "The Vampire Diaries" (2010), Lucy Stone in "Big Time Rush" (2011), Julia Yeung in "Star-Crossed" (2014), and Linda Park in this year's "The Flash."
Nan Zhang is the last in the list. Born in Anhui, China in 1986, the actress appeared in films like "West 32nd" (2007) and "Shanghai Hotel" (2001). She also played the role of Kati Farkas in the hit television series "Gossip Girl."
While Latino Post has presented its list of actresses who can play the role of the "girl staring back at me," various fans have shared their thoughts on Mulan's voice actor in 1998.
Ming-Na Wen, born in Coloane Island, Macau year 1963 was chosen by some fans to play the role of Mulan in the live-action film. User AwesomEmergency tweeted recently, "If Disney makes a Live-Action #Mulan w/o @MIngNa, We Riot." "If the #Mulan remake DOESN'T star the real-life Mulan @MingNa then what's the point of seeing it???? #MingNa4Mulan," user sergioeltercero posted. User Coletheworlf also tweeted, "I personally think that @MingNa should play Mulan in the live-action Mulan. Let's be honest... she's LITERALLY Mulan."
Some fans view that the actress can play Mulan's mother in the live-action film, instead. User what2830 tweeted, "Jamie Chung tho pls, have Ming-Na be Mulan's mom." "she could be Mulan's mom. I wanna see Ziyi Zhang as Mulan, but I am sure Disney wants someone younger," user MurasakiMeli said in a post.
After seeing the tweets from the fans, Wen seems to be interested to be in the lead role, as per EOnline. "Wow, so many tweets to @Disney announcement for a live-action #Mulan. Thank U4 wanting me 2B in the film! Tweet @DisneyPictures about it! Xo," the actress tweeted.
"Mulan" is an animated musical film based on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, who impersonates a man to take her father's place in the military.
As per EOnline, Disney has bought a script from writer Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek. Chris Bender and J.C. Spink are set to produce the film.
With the speculations coming from the fans on who will star as Disney's legendary woman warrior, they still will have to wait for Disney's official announcements on casting details and release date.
