Ending the anticipation for Up3, Jawbone revealed that it would start shipping this most awaited activity tracker to customers in the United States who pre ordered the device. The device is all set to cost $180 in US, £150 in UK and translates to AUS$230.
According to CNET, the company has revealed that the delay in shipping the device was due to some manufacturing issues. Adding to the above, it remarked that some devices failed to meet the expected level of water resistance which was mainly responsible for this delay.
Moreover, it has been clarified by Jawbone that Up3 would provide the same level of water resistance as other multi sensored activity trackers. However, it can withstand rains and splashing though the use of the device whilst swimming will not be possible. According to the reports by 9To5 Mac, it was revealed that initially the company promised water resistance up to 20 meters, however, post production, the stance has changed to 3 meters.
Furthermore, Jawbone also went on to add that it would be able to complete the processing of all the pending orders only by mid May and has apologized from the users for this inconvenience. Besides, citing delay in its expected shipping date of 2014, the company has remarked that the device being presented would make up for all the wait.
Furthermore, Up3 is capable of not only tracking steps, distance and calories burnt but it has also been developed with inbuilt metal studs which are capable of conducting electrical bioimpedance measurements, hence, adding to the accuracy of readings provided by the device. Moreover, this is a development over traditional activity trackers that use a set of LED's to measure various parameters.
