South Africa is grooving to a different tune these days. Oratilwe Hlongwane, a toddler, is making the crowd dance to his bass-heavy house music nowadays as he fiddles around the knobs and buttons of a sophisticated music system.
The South Africa's latest sensation is barely two years old. Known as DJ AJ, the young boy can be seen performing in malls and local gatherings, bopping his small head to the heavy beats. The child has become a YouTube sensation overnight and is a hot topic on social media with about 25,000 Facebook fans.
Still in his diapers and unable to speak fluently, Hlongwane breezes through laptop and DJ equipments much to the amusement of the onlookers. The toddler is showered with sponsorship deals and contracts which older DJs dream of, New York Post reported.
The toddler's parents, mother Refiloe Marumo and father Glen Hlongwane, are under media scrutiny for exploiting their child at such a young age. The duo has been accused of child abuse and profiting from their child's precocious ability.
On the other hand, Oratilwe's parents are adamant that they will never allow their gifted child to play in clubs or at parties. They also insisted that they will never force him to be a DJ when he grows up.
"I'm not going to exploit my kid," declared the young DJ's father, Huffington Post reported.
It all started when Glen bought an iPad so as to download educational apps for child's early learning and a DJ app for himself. Soon the child started navigating the gadget easily and started fiddling with his father's DJ app.
The prodigy was also able to handle an actual DJ equipment and started shuffling between different numbers at small gatherings. A cellphone video taken of such a performance brought the child into limelight.
