Jane Villanueva's (Gina Rodriguez) relationship with Rafael Solano (Justin Baldoni) is once again put to the test in the April 13 episode of "Jane The Virgin." Some of the other exciting story twists and revelations in "Jane The Virgin" Season 1, episode 18 include the arrival of Rogelio's (Jaime Camil) mom, Rafael's past, Petra's (Yael Grobglas) life in danger and a breakup.
Jane starts to have doubts in her relationship with Rafael because work interrupts their session at a child-birth class. Rafael tells Jane he will have dinner with a family friend named Graham Falco and his wife, the City Commissioner, who can help in getting the hotel's liquor license back.
Jane heads to Xiomara (Andrea Navedo) and Rogelio's new house to meet her other grandmother, Liliana de la Vega (Rita Moreno). Jane assures Xiomara that everything will be fine despite what happened years ago.
It is revealed that Liliana walked in on Xiomara and Rogelio having sex. A shocked Xiomara tripped on a lamp cord and the lamp fell on Liliana's cat so it electrocuted her pet.
Jane meets up with her new friend Andie, Michael's (Brett Dier) ex-girlfriend, to talk about her rocky relationship with Rafael because of his busy work schedule. Andie explains that hormones could be the reason behind Jane's doubts about Rafael.
Jane tries to ignore her doubts about Rafael. However, Jane becomes disappointed again when Rafael canceled their plans in order to meet up with the City Commissioner.
At the hotel, Jane gets into an argument with a woman, who happens to be the City Commissioner and wife of Rafael's friend Graham Falco. Jane has ruined the chances of Rafael getting the hotel's liquor license back.
Rafael receives his mother's email address from the private investigator that he hired. Petra approaches Rafael about their problem with Roman Zazo (Alano Miller) but Rafael still believes the guy is Roman's twin brother Aaron.
Abuela Alba (Ivonne Coll) continues to become closer to her crush Edward (Cheech Marin) at the Lower South Beach Medical Building. While preparing for the Easter services at the Villanueva residence, Jane receives a phone call from Rafael asking her to join him and the Falco's with their Easter celebration so that she can straighten things out with the City Commissioner.
Jane agrees to fix the damage she made. Meanwhile, Petra heads to Aaron's hotel room to get a glass with his fingerprints on in order to prove that he is really Roman Zazo.
Petra contacts Michael for help. Michael runs into Jane at the hotel and Jane finds out that Michael's ex is her new friend Andie.
Rafael told Jane that he sent an email to his mother before attending the Easter services at the Holy Trinity church. Jane finds out Abuela Alba's crush Edward is a priest.
Xiomara agrees to apologize to Rogelio's mom for what happened in the past if Alba asks Edward out on a date. Liliana forgives Xiomara for her cat's death but she could not forgive her for not telling about her pregnancy with Jane.
Xiomara wants Rogelio to set the record straight with his mother. At the Golden Harbor Yacht Club, it is Jane's turn to clear things with the City Commissioner after their unpleasant encounter at the hotel.
Petra asks Michael to run the prints to confirm that the man she will have dinner with at the hotel lounge is Roman Zazo and not Aaron. Michael assures Petra the cops will be ready at the hotel to make their move once the prints give a positive match.
Rogelio finally tells his mother the truth about Xiomara's pregnancy. Meanwhile, Jane is able to smooth things with Alexis Falco, the City Commissioner, at the yacht club Easter brunch after hearing the couple's argument on work and their daughter's birthday.
Liliana apologizes to Xiomara but she still wants Xiomara and Rogelio to end their relationship. Liliana explains it looks like Xiomara and Rogelio does not have any long term plans.
Jane and Rafael have a discussion about their future. Jane does not like the setting where work comes first and Rafael will be away from her and the baby most of the time.
As Xiomara tries to get Rogelio out of her mind, she runs into her former flame Marco. The two ends up kissing while drinking at a bar but Xiomara stops and leaves after realizing the mistake she did.
Abuela Abla tells Jane that she asked Edward out on a date. Jane reveals to Abuela that Edward is a priest.
Jane talks to Abuela and Xiomara about her doubts with Rafael. Abuela wants Jane to have faith in Rafael while Xiomara tells her that she should not let doubts get in the way.
Back at the hotel, Rafael's mom shows up to connect again with him after receiving his email. Rafael finds out that his mom cheated and the reason why she left is because his father offered her money to stay away from them.
Rogelio tells Xiomara that his mother is on her way home and he loves her. Xiomara did not tell Rogelio about running into her former flame and kissing him.
Michael confirms to Petra that the prints prove Roman Zazo is still alive. However, Michael could not find Petra at the hotel because Roman already kidnapped her.
The revelation about Rafael's past led his conversation with Jane to another argument and eventually to their breakup because of their differences. "Jane The Virgin" returns with episode 19 titled "Chapter Nineteen" on April 20, Monday night at 9 p.m. ET on the CW Network.
