The 74th Peabody Awards winners for the entertainment category have been revealed. Included in the list are newly beloved television dramas and comedies.
In revealing its latest winners for electronic media excellence, the Peabody organization emphasized a trend of multi-dimensional, strong women picking up awards in 2015. The trend, somehow, affirms the expansion of women's significant roles on television, TV Line reported.
Among the winners are "The Americans": Its season's finale will air on April 22 on FX. Previous seasons could be accessed via Amazon Prime and FX Now; "The Black Mirror": Its first season is also on Amazon Prime and FX Now; "The Honorable Woman": Available on Netflix; "Inside Amy Schumer": Its third season will start on April 21. Summaries have been made available on Comedy Central while full episodes can be accessed on Amazon Prime.
Also in the list are "Jane the Virgin": A few episodes are available on Hulu and CW site; "The Knick": Its first season is available on Max Go for Cinemax subscribers; "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver": Available through its YouTube channel and HBO Go for HBO subscribers; and "Rectify": Two seasons are available on Netflix.
The Peabody Awards is amongst the United States' oldest media awards giving body. It recognizes scripted entertainment shows, radio programs, documentaries, individuals, podcasts, institutions, and websites.
David Attenborough, the mind behind the countless well-acknowledged nature documentaries, will receive an "individual" award for his work and his "Afropop Worldwide" radio program will have the "institutional" award. Awards in children's shows, educational programming, documentaries, and news will be unveiled on April 20-23.
The annual awards will be distributed in New York by host Fred Aarmisen on May 31.
