Jay Feely, 38, has taken to Twitter to apologize for his remarks against NFL star Tim Tebow, 27, which offended the Philadelphia Eagles' fans.

On April 22, Wednesday, Feely described Tebow as "the single-worst quarterback" he ever saw in his career in the NFL in a panel discussion for an episode of "Jim Rome on Showtime" that aired on Showtime.

Feely tweeted, "Tim Tebow: great man, great competitor, just not a good QB. Sorry if that offends you."

While he apologized, Feely said he also got offended by Tebow's comments against him. He also wrote, "It amazes me the amount of people who talk about their 'faith' in their bio but cussed me out on Twitter bc of what I said about Tebow."

Currently, Feely is a free agent. He has spent 14 seasons in the NFL as a placekicker with various teams, including the Atlanta Falcons from 2001 to 2004.

Before the Atlanta Falcons, Feely became a member of the Florida Bobcats in 1999 and Tampa Bay Storm in 2000. He was with the New York Giants from 2006 to 2006 and with the Miami Dolphins in 2007.

More recently, Feely became a member of the Arizona Cardinals for almost four years before becoming a member of the Chicago Bears in 2014.

Meanwhile, ESPN analyst Jon Gruden recently told reporters that he is anxious to see "what Tim Tebow has been doing for the last year or so to improve and get himself ready for this opportunity," NJ reported.

Also, it may be impossible for the Philadelphia Eagles to get into the top five from number 20 if they remain interested in reuniting Kelly with quarterback Marcus Mariota, NBC Sports noted.
