It's been two days after his death and the family of the late Dave Goldberg, CEO of online survey firm, SurveyMonkey, has announced neither the cause nor the circumstances surrounding his sudden death May 1 while on vacation with his wife, Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook COO.
Family members initially announced Goldberg, 47, had "died suddenly" via postings on Facebook. Goldberg's immediate family and Facebook haven't released a cause or other details about his death, said Fox News.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Goldberg died while he was on vacation at an undisclosed vacation abroad with his wife, said The New York Times. Zuckerberg described Goldberg as "an amazing person."
"It's with incredible shock and sadness that I'm letting our friends and family know that my amazing brother, Dave Goldberg, beloved husband of Sheryl Sandberg, father of two wonderful children, and son of Paula Goldberg, passed away suddenly last night," wrote Robert Goldberg on Facebook.
Sandberg said much of her own success was due to her marriage to Goldberg. She said her late husband supported her career decisions and shared equally in the work of raising their young children. The two married in 2004.
"I truly believe that the single most important career decision that a woman makes is whether she will have a life partner and who that partner is," Sandberg wrote.
