Fans are getting closer to the premiere of the upcoming blockbuster "Independence Day 2" and Bill Pullman has been recently reported as a returning cast to the film. However, he will not reprise his role as the current president; instead, a woman has been entitled to govern the White House.
"CSI: NY" star Sela Ward will be playing the role of President Lanford, the current President of the United States, as per Deadline.
After twenty years since the attacks of the aliens, the United States has elected a new President. While the new President had no known first name at this point, she will be sitting in the big chair.
It is also reported that Ward will be working once again with film maker Roland Emmerich in "Independence Day 2," after their last project "The Day After Tomorrow" on 20th Century Fox in 2004.
Born in Meridian, Mississippi, Ward is also known for her roles in films such as "The Fugitive" and "Gone Girl."
Pullman will still reprise his role as Thomas J. Whitmore and he is now one of the former presidents of the state, as per Cinema Blend.
"Independence Day 2" is set two decades following the incidents in the first film so it is logical to have a newly selected leader for the state.
Ward will be joining returnees Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica Fox, and Jeff Goldblum. The film also stars Travis Tope, Brent Spiner, Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Joey King.
Emmerich is set to pilot the film, together with Dean devlin, Ute Emmerich, Volker Engel, Harold Kloser, Carsten Lorenz, and Marc Weigert as his co-producers. Carter Blanchard, James Woods, and Nicolas Wright are on board to pen the script.
"Independence Day 2" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on June 24, 2016.
