Miley Cyrus is in the news owing to a surprising revelation about her sexual orientation. During a recent interview, the mega star raised questions about her own sexual orientation and declared that not all of her past relationships were "straight or heterosexual" ones.
In an interview with Associated Press on May 4, Monday, the 22-year-old recalled her bisexual past but declined to divulge further details.
With the recent statement, Cyrus has apparently thrown light on the yet unseen side of her life. She recently split from Patrick Schwarzenegger and had dated Liam Hemsworth and Nick Jonas in the past but was never reported to be in a gay relationship.
Cyrus has recently launched Happy Hippie Foundation, an endeavour to help the vulnerable population of homeless youth and the LGBT community. The singer, who famously asked a homeless man to accept her Video of the Year trophy at the 2014 Video Music Awards, admitted she is inspired by the media attention she got from the simple gesture and wants to cash on her star status to create awareness among masses.
"The position I'm in, I feel like I've got a lot of power," said Cyrus in the interview.
Also, Cyrus has given thumbs-up to former Olympian and TV personality, Bruce Jenner, for making a bold move and coming out clean with his gender identity publicly during a recent interview with Diane Sawyer.
While Cyrus is passionate about a lot of issues, from climate change to animal welfare, the issue of LGBT community is apparently close to her heart and she has been quite vocal about it in the recent past. According to the songstress, she uploaded a picture of her pink dyed arm pit on Instagram intentionally to shout out at body shamers and critics not to tell her what to do.
Cyrus's surprising revelation comes only a few weeks after she broke up with Schwarzenegger. Post the break-up, the star's pictures went viral online in which she was seen kissing intimately her gal pal Frankie Rayder, Metro reported.
