The tech giant Google has started rolling out its latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA update for the 2013 Nexus 7 WiFi model.
The Android 5.1.1 update will be available to owners in phases and will be limited to the current stock firmware. Furthermore, the update will be applicable to the 2013 Nexus 7 tablets with build number LMY47V. Other Nexus devices will have to wait to receive the latest firmware update.
The Android 5.1.1 update concentrates on bug fixes for camera, memory management, notifications and security. In addition, the Lollipop update provides with enhancement in the performance of the system, so that owners can use the latest Lollipop version without any difficulty.
Owners of Nexus 7 devices have been complaining about the problems faced in Android 5.1. They have been facing battery drainage and performance related issues. To fix these issues, Google has released a new update to Android 5.1 called Android 5.1.1.
While the update was initially available in April, the roll out for Nexus smartphones and tablets have been very slow. The software giant Google has also introduced Android 5.1.1 for the Android 7 2013 and Nexus 7 2012; however, the latest version was only available for owners who want to sideload the firmware prior to the company's OTA launch.
Since Google is rolling out the Android 5.1.1 OTA update in phases, so users can expect the update to arrive within a week. The latest version will continue to roll out until every user of 2013 Nexus 7 tablet receives the update.
If users have not got a notification yet, they should click the Software Update section of their Settings' About device menu to speed up the process, according to Latin Post.
However Google has not started the roll out of the new update to the cellular devices of the Nexus 7 and it is not yet known when Google plans to do so, Tech News Today reported.
