Review website Glassdoor released a report that lists the 25 Best U.S. Cities for Job, which ranked urban areas based on three factors. Based on the report, the top city to find a job was in the Southeastern United States.
Glassdoor is a website where former U.S. employees of companies submit anonymous reviews. The company was launched in 2008.
The three factors that Glassdoor considered in its report were hiring opportunity, job satisfaction, and cost of living, according to Philly Voice. Each factor was weighed equally.
San Jose ranked highest for hiring opportunity, San Francisco topped the list for job satisfaction, and Detroit was ranked first for cost of living.
Raleigh, North Carolina was ranked as the best U.S. city to find a job. It received a job score of 4.1, and had 24,146 job openings for its population of 1.24 million residents, according to ABC-7 News.
The other top-5 best U.S. cities for jobs were Kansas City, Oklahoma, Austin, and Seattle, respectively. Major U.S. cities such as Los Angeles and New York City were interestingly absent from the list. This was due to factors such as low job availability and high cost of living.
Glassdoor stated that hiring opportunity is calculated by a ratio of active job openings to city population.
Meanwhile, job satisfaction per metropolitan area is based on 1,000 or more company reviews during the past year. Those reviews were submitted to Glassdoor.
Finally, cost of living is calculated by another ratio. That is the proportion of average yearly base salary to average metro home value.
