A recent study suggests that daily intake of coffee helps in reducing the risk of having an erectile dysfunction (ED). In a survey, men have answered questions about caffeine consumption within 24 hours and it appeared that the amount of caffeine intake help in lowering the impotence problem among men.
University of Texas researchers studied the health data of more than 3,700 men who participated in National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. They have found out the caffeine intake can really lower the chance of developing an ED, which can be severly serious and life-threatening condition for men.
The findings showed that men who consume two cups of coffee daily is likely to have a 42 percent decrease in developing ED. As per the report of Modern Readers, men who are drinking three cups of coffee per day have a 39 percent reduction in impotence problem.
The study also points out that the decrease in erectile dysfunction risk is still unchanged regardless of blood pressure or weight conditions. However, according to Pioneer News, it does not apply to men with diabetic problems even if they consumed caffeine a lot.
“The suggested biological mechanism is that caffeine triggers a series of pharmacological effects that lead to the relaxation of the penile helicine arteries, and the cavernous smooth muscle that lines cavernosal spaces, thus increasing penile blood flow.” lead study author Dr. Lopez, clinical assistant professor from University of Texas, Houston and University of Texas School of Public Health, explained.
Researchers suggest that caffeine is likely to escalate the blood flow and relaxes the arteries of the heart, thus helping to lower the development of ED.
