Mel Gibson's "Lethal Weapon" co-star Mary Ellen Trainor died on May 20 at the age of 62 in her home in Montecito, Calif.
According to Variety, a memorial for the "Goonies" star will be held on June 19 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. The actress is survived by her mom Jane, her son Alex and four siblings Jack, Ned, Carolyn and Barbara.
Trainor's family is requesting that anyone who wants to pay their respects to the actress may do so by donating to the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation and Wounded Warriors, E! News reported.
Although no official cause of death has been released as of late, there are reports that the actress suffered from cancer. According to some fans, this is why her family is requesting for donations to cancer foundations.
Meanwhile, Trainor played the role of Dr. Stephanie Woods on "Lethal Weapon." Although her exposure as a departmental psychiatrist in the movie was brief, she was the only actress alongside lead stars Mel Gibson and Danny Glover to have appeared in all four movies.
Trainor also worked very closely with director Richard Donner. The actress appeared in "Scrooge" as a network executive. In "Goonies," she played the role of Irene Walsh, the mother of Mikey and Brand. Both "Scrooge" and "Goonies" were directed by Donner.
Later on, Trainor also appeared on "Romancing the Stone," where she played the role of Elaine, alongside her then husband Robert Zemeckis. The two stayed married from 1980 to 2000 and they were blessed with one child, Alex.
