The Naruto universe has been vastly expanding since it took manga readers and anime fans alike by storm 15 years ago. With the story's main characters (Naruto, Sasuke & Sakura) going full circle with their own families, a new breed of ninjas (Boruto & Sarada) are trying to make names for themselves as they look to maintain peace built upon by their parents.
But despite the introduction of this era's group of ninjas, many are still wondering how cool would their grandparents or even great grandparents look like at the peak of their primes. Boruto's grandfather, Minato Namikaze (the fourth Hokage), is by far one of the better designed characters both in the manga and anime, while Boruto's grandmother, Kushina Uzumaki, is oozing with cuteness as a kid.
Thanks to breathtaking artwork by Rarity Princess on Deviant Art, Naruto fans can actually have visual concepts of the main characters' parents along with the couples that played major roles during the ancient times in the ninja world.
Everybody knows Madara Uchiha was one of the strongest shinobis (probably next to Hashirama Senju) during his time, but no one knows how beautiful his wife was, if he ever had one. Tobirama, Konoha's Second Hokage, is known for his trademark short-temper and grumpiness, but what if he was such a darling to Konoha ladies back in his heydays.
Orochimaru's lust for power and immortality stemmed from his desire to cheat death, which claimed the lives of his parents when he was just a toddler. No one has any idea who Orochimaru's parents are, but Rarity Princess was able to provide a concept artwork of the villain's mother and father.
While it's only a fan art, the artist's masterpieces have somewhat helped readers visualize the facial features of the people behind the important characters in the story. Although they were not illustrated in the manga, it has nevertheless given Otakus something to refer to in their fascination of "What if Naruto universe."
