Still Looking for ways to get more premiums out of their lottery pick, the New York Knicks continue to gauge the trade market, hoping to find interested teams willing to make a deal for their no.4 overall selection in this year's draft.
The Knickerbockers, who have a slim chance in drafting potentially game-changing big men in Karl-Anthony Towns and Jahlil Okafor, are reportedly open to part ways with their asset as long as they can get their hands on a high pick outside top-5 and an established veteran, according to multiple league sources.
Bleacher Report writer John Dorn provided three ideal 'trade down' options for the Knicks to consider, as each of these deals can speed up their rebuilding effort after two seasons of disappointments in the Big Apple
Dorn believed the Knicks should make a run for Denver Nuggets playmaker Ty Lawson or Detroit Pistons combo guard Brandon Jennings or Sacramento Kings speedster Darren Collison, if they feel the prospect available at no.4 would not improve their chance of returning to the postseason next year.
The speculation of Lawson re-uniting with former Nuggets teammate Carmelo Anthony has been flying around the past few weeks, and it gained more traction in the wake of the point guard's demand for a trade.
Collison, on the other hand, was one of the driving forces in the Kings' early success last season, before his play plummeted dramatically following the firing of Mike Malone. Jennings showed flashes of his old self under head coach Stan Van Gundy, but a season-ending knee injury and the arrival of Reggie Jackson suggested the end of his days in Motown.
Dorn opined that acquiring for one of these playmakers would be an easy upgrade over Jose Calderon or Langston Galloway, while the draft pick they are going to acquire from the deal would allow them to select a prospect of their choice. According to ESPN, the Knicks are high on Trey Lyles and Adreian Payne, who are both projected late lottery to mid first-round draft choices.
