Coming off arguably his worst season since his rookie year, Jeremy Lin stressed again during a Q&A session on Chinese board forum site Hupu that his main priority heading into the offseason is to find a team that complements his up-tempo playing style.
Lin, who is currently on tour with Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard to promote their newly-released Adidas shoes, told his fans that teams employing a run-and-gun style of play are more appealing to him because he knows he's a good fit in that kind of offensive system..
The former Harvard star had a rough year with the Los Angeles Lakers last season, as he struggled to adapt Byron Scott's Princeton-based offense. Lin managed to up his 2014-15 season average to 11.2 points and 4.6 assists in 25 minutes per game, thanks to Scott's decision to give Lin more freedom in orchestrating the offense in the second half of their campaign.
But with the Lakers looking to reload this offseason, it is unlikely Lin will still wind up with the purple-and-gold after this summer. Nevertheless, there are already at least seven teams lining up for his service with the Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers emerging as the frontrunners.
Picking the right team would be crucial for Lin as he attempts to get his once promising career on the right track after up-and-down stints with the Rockets and the Lakers. NBA analysts believe the 26-year old Lin has plenty of room to develop his game and even expect him to make a big impact with a right time.
Aside from his potential free-agency destination, Lin also shared his thoughts on who should go no.1 in this year's draft (Jahlil Okafor) and almost everything under the sun in a very interactive session with his fans online.
