The wait could soon be over for the Nexus 2015 release date as Google appears to be clearing out its existing stocks of the 2014 Nexus hardware. The HTC Nexus 9 with 32GB of internal storage is now available for only $380.
The price shave off translates to $229 of savings as the 9-inch vanilla Android tablet originally sells at the Google Play Store for $600. Online retailer Expansys, according to Droid Life, actually retails the device $100 cheaper but in the latest promo deal, the price point was further trimmed down by another $120. The sticker price now stands at $380.
Promising savings of 24 percent, Expansys will ship out the international version of the Nexus 9 unlocked and in Indigo Black finish. The specifications also indicated of LTE access but Droid Life is reminding that the superfast wireless broadband chip on the HTC-made device will not work on AT&T and Verizon.
Setting this minor issue aside, the 32GB Nexus 9 promises to be a solid buy as the package includes a very capable Tegra K1 processing chip in 64-bit mobile computing configuration that Google paired with 2GB of RAM. These banner components alone will ensure that the Android slate will behave fast and snappy.
The Nexus 9 also boasts of a QXGA display in 2048 x 1536 screen resolution and a decent 8MP rear shooter. The power juice is provided by a 6700mAh battery kit.
But the best part about this tablet sibling of the Nexus 6 is the pure Android inside, which tells would-be buyers that they'll be getting the device free of bloatwares plus the assurance that Google software updates and fixes will arrive as soon as they become available.
In the present context, that means that once Android M is finalized the Nexus 9 is among the first to chew in the new Google sweet.
And as mentioned above, the Nexus 9 going cheaper indicates too that Google and its retail partners are trying to swiftly wipe out inventories of the Nexus 2014 line up. As the case in the previous years, the move suggests that the tech giant is making room for the arrival of new products that would replace the existing flagships.
While recent reports have claimed that the Nexus 9 will not be refreshed this 2015, the bit of disappointment was erased by the likelihood of two Nexus smartphone unboxing later in the year. One will be reportedly made by LG and is known for now as the 5.2-inch Nexus Bullhead.
