Videogame publisher Nippon Ichi Software America announced today that it will release 'Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance" on Oct. 6 in North America and on Oct. 9 in Europe. The new iteration of the well-beloved tactical role-playing game will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 4 platform.
"Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance" was announced in December 2014 just before the opening of the 2014 Tokyo Game Show. The game first released in Japan in March. The game was a huge hit in its native country and was reported to have sold 22,000 copies in its first week.
A special "launch day" edition of "Disgaea 5" will be released along in the North American region. The special edition pack contains a copy of the game, a 32-page art book, a reversible cover art and the game's soundtrack, according to Polygon.
"Disgaea 5" is the sixth entry to the series and tells a tale of revenge and rebellion, According to NIS America, one young demon named Killia has stood to end the reign of a new and terrible Overlord named Void Dark, who seeks to enslave the countless Netherworlds.
Aside from Killia, the game also features five playable characters; Seraphina, Usalia, Red Magnus, Christo and Zeroken.
"Disgaea 5" introduces a new gameplay mechanics called the revenge system. This new feature is triggered when a member of the party has died. A new special attack called the Maougis will be introduced as well.
According to its developer, "Disgaea 5" was initially planned as multi-platform game that will include the PlayStation 3. However, die to some unconfirmed reason, the developers decided to exclusively release the game on the PlayStation 4.
