Google will reportedly opt for an earlier Nexus 2015 release date, advancing the launch of the vanilla Android flagship from the holiday quarter of the year to September. The idea is to simultaneously unleash the device with Android M, a new report said.
Geek Snack said in a report that Google's signature phone will debut with Android M and the pair will likely come out before of Q3 2015, pointing to September as the month to expect the double launch. As the next Nexus is said to unpack in two models, made by LG and Huawei, the same report mostly touched on the LG-made handset that likely will reflect what were seen with the Nexus 5 in 2013 - also a piece that originated from LG's Korean production lines.
In some reports, the device is being labeled as the Nexus 5 2015. If the name sticks, Android Pit has already visualized what are the minimum specs and features to expect - four of which are listed below:
The best of LG
With the Nexus 4 and 5 under its belt, LG has made a name as one of the best Android vendors not only because of the company's collaboration with Google but also of its own product line up, specifically from the LG G2 to the LG G4.
For the 2015 version, Android fans are already expecting a winner and all LG has to do is take a page from the Nexus 5, at least most of the good things about the beloved 2013 smartphone, Android Pit said. With LG in charge of one the Nexus phones this year "we can count on LG to deliver ... a second time around," the report added.
Perfect screen profile
Google's decision to upsize the Motorola Nexus 6 last year to near 6-inch screen profile proved unsuccessful so Android Pit is convinced that the Nexus maker is bringing back LG to the project to scale down the upcoming flagship's display panel. It will be not too big and not too small as well.
The sweet spot would be not too far from 5-inch, which is quite near to the 5.2-inch LG G4. Now the device mentioned is rumored to become the reimagined Nexus 2015.
Quick charging
It might be that the next Nexus will not boast of an overly impressive battery life but one thing is sure, the device will finally showcase the quick charging capability that Samsung first commercially introduced with the Galaxy S5 in 2014.
Doing so is not remotely impossible as the likelihood is the LG Nexus will rely on the latest Snapdragon chip for power. Should that be the case, then the flagship will have access to Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0 technology, the Android Pit report noted.
Affordable price point
The Nexus 6 came out with a premium price tag, which proved a turn off for many Android fans. Learning its lesson, Google will likely return to the original Nexus blueprint that highlights accessibility and affordability.
Android Pit provided no specific numbers but is should be safe to assume that the price point is likely between the Nexus 5 sticker price at $350 apiece and that of the Nexus 6, which sold around $600 when it first came out.
Going by the previous rollout template, the Google Nexus 2015 release date should happen no later than November this year but as mentioned above, the actual touchdown could be significantly earlier than last year, likely around September.
