The Detroit Pistons are targeting unrestricted free agents DeMarre Carroll and Danny Green to fill their gaping hole at starting small forward.
The selection of Stanley Johnson fortifies the Pistons' at small forward but is not expected to start immediately.
Carroll, 28, averaged 12.6 points and shot nearly 40% from the three-point line for the Atlanta Hawks last season.
He is a sturdy defender and was arguably the best player in the playoffs for the Hawks, who had 60 wins in the regular season.
He looks like a perfect fit at small forward for a team built around Reggie Jackson and Andre Drummond.
Green, 28, is one the league's deadliest shooters, hitting over 40% from three-point range for four straight seasons with the San Antonio Spurs.
He is a good defender and is experienced in deep playoff runs.
Pistons president Stan Van Gundy said that the two as not only good players, but would fit in with their style of play.
He added that the Pistons will "go after hard right away" at them.
Both Carroll and Green are expected to fetch multiyear contracts easily at $10 million per season.
Other targets are the Orlando Magic's 22-year-old Tobias Harris and stop-gap solutions such as ex-MSU standout Alan Anderson or Bulls' Mike Dunleavy.
Harris averaged 17.1 points and 6.3 rebounds with a 36 percent accuracy from the three-point range last season.
The Magic are not expected to match a maximum-level contract offer to Harris after drafting Mario Hezonja fifth overall.
Khris Middleton was also in the mix before the 23-year-old signed a new deal with the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Pistons have around $20 million in cap space.
Van Gundy said that they have to be careful and needs to have a good indication that the player the will be recruiting teams would not match an offer sheet.
