To be of service can be simple. To do it with excellence is something else.
The outstanding service of 102 county-level Party secretaries made them honorees in an awarding ceremony organized by the Communist Party of China (CPC) at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on June 30.
No less than President Xi Jinping graced the event and shook hands with the honored county Party chiefs. When the president addressed them, he reminded them of Party loyalty, desire for progress and service from the heart.
Also in attendance was Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee. He also gave a talk to the county Party chiefs and was one of those who handed the certificates to them.
Since it was CPC’s 94th anniversary the next day, President Xi expressed his felicitations in advance to the present Party members. He stressed the important role of the county as it serves as a “significant foundation” for the general welfare of the nation.
Xinhua said that it was in 1995 that county Party chiefs were last formally recognized for their outstanding work. The president is expectant that those 102 honored would be emulated by others.
It can be interesting to note that out of the 102 honored county party chiefs, seven are women.
Bao Xiuying (Kaihua County, Zhejiang Province) joined the CPC in 1993.
Ceng Yu (Zunyi, Guizhou Province) stopped the operations of factories that contributed to pollution.
Li Junxia (Jimunai County, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region) joined the CPC in 1996.
Liang Ying (Liangdang County, Gansu Province) joined the CPC in 1993.
