French club Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly discussing with English giant Manchester United a possible Angel Di Maria transfer, as per Metro. The amount of the deal is not yet disclosed as of the moment.
Di Maria, who had suffered a hamstring injury in the final of this year's Copa America, was previously pursued by PSG when the Argentine winger was still with Real Madrid last year. The deal was close to being consummated, but the Red and Blue's plans were halted when UEFA enforced a £49-million spending cap on the club after violating Financial Fair Play rules.
Now that the restriction is lifted, the Parisians are going for another shot at acquiring the 27-year-old midfielder.
The Red Devils are said to be requiring a transfer fee of £60 million, more or less the same amount Louis van Gaal paid Real when the English team acquired him from Spain in 2014. PSG was hoping for a discount, but Bayern Munich's renouncement of their interest on Di Maria may affect their negotiation process, via ESPN.
Di Maria was reportedly having difficulties playing for United and also in adapting to life in England. Last February, he allegedly told former Real teammates that he regretted being transferred and would like to go back to the Bernabéu.
On the same month, reports have also swirled that Di Maria's Cheshire manor was broken in by robbers while he and his family were eating supper. Fortunately, an alarm sounded and the intruders fled the mansion without any loots. This led to a round-the-clock security patrol around the footballers' estate.
This kind of on-pitch and off-pitch factors may really push Di Maria's signing with PSG.
