With Joe Russo and Anthony Russo's "Captain America: Civil War" hitting the big screen next year, Marvel Studios Head Kevin Feige has revealed the reason behind Black Panther's debut in the upcoming film.
In his interview with Superhero Hype, the Marvel Head said that "Captain America: Civil War" needs a neutral character, someone who is neither in Captain America's side nor Iron Man's side. He added that since Marvel is also doing a "Black Panther" film, it would be clever to have the Wakandan superhero to fulfill that role in his debut in "Civil War," before his solo film.
Black Panther's inclusion in the Russos' "Captain America: Civil War" suggests that the Prince of Wakanda has a major role in the film, as per Cinema Blend. This implies that the superhero wil help shape the future of Marvel's Phase Three, along with Ant-Man, whose solo film transitions the fans from Marvel's Phase Two.
Chadwick Boseman will play the role of the Wakandan prince T'Challa, who is also known as Black Panther. Wakanda is famous vibranium, the mineral that was used to create Captain America's shield and was also used by Ultron in making himself near indestructible.
Aside from Boseman, "Captain America: Civil War" stars Martin Freeman, Paul Bettany, Emily VanCamp, Daniel Bruhl, Tom Holland, Paul Rudd, Sebastian Stan, Elizabeth Olsen, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., and Chris Evans, among others.
"Captain America: Civil War" is slated to hit theaters on May 6, 2016 while "Black Panther" is set to premiere in theaters on July 6, 2018.
