Another possible reason why Microsoft Surface Pro 4 release is delayed emerged as the company will reportedly add more retail partners to sell the Surface Pro 3 and other tablets in the Surface line.
CRN cited sources familiar to the matter claiming that Microsoft is reportedly widening the Surface tablet reseller base by inviting new channel partners that will exclusively resell the company's flagship tablet. The company will most likely announce a number of partners at Worldwide Partner Conference next week.
Apart from growing the reseller base, Microsoft aims to sell more units of its Surface tablets as well as open opportunities for its partners.
However, adding more partners to further sell more tablets hinted that the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 release may not happen yet. Rumors are rife that the launch of the device was pushed back in 2016.
According to Business Korea, the South Korea-based tech company signed a new deal with Microsoft to supply 256 GB SSDs for its laptops. The former will deliver 20 million units of the technology in the second half of next year.
The SSDs are built using Samsung's Non-Volatile Memory express (NVMe) technology is capable of transferring data at 2 GB/s which is over three times the speed of the Surface Pro 3's 600 MB/s. This is apt for the update that the company should incur if it wants to deliver a better device than Surface Pro 3, according to Techie News.
Meanwhile, some of the purported features of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 are: 12-inch screen display with 2K pixel resolution, Intel Skylake processor, stylus, and USB Type-C port. Just like the previous Microsoft Surface Pro 3, the device will sport a keyboard accessory that will transform the device into an ultra-portable laptop.
However, Microsoft remained tight-lipped on the details of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4.
