HTC One M9 and HTC One M8 are confirmed to receive the new Android M operating system, which hinted that the handsets will most likely skip the Android 5.1.1 version of the Lollipop OS.
Google announced that it will roll out the Android M OS later this year. Right now, developers are enjoying the Developer Preview of the said OS.
Some HTC fans, especially HTC One M8 users, are worried that the One M8 will not be included in the list of devices that will receive the Android M OS update. However, HTC senior vice president for Product Management Mo Versi confirmed that the handset will receive the Android M OS update following the unwritten rule that two-year-old devices will receive the Android OS.
Without saying, HTC One M9, being the flagship smartphone, will surely receive the new Android M operating system. Currently, AT&T HTC One M9 owners are receiving the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS update.
The update delivers new improvements and enhancements including the new Material Design from Google. The download and installation processes also require that users have a registered Google account. From there, they should go to Software updates and click on OK to bring up the on-screen instructions.
Meanwhile, Sentinel Republic claimed that HTC senior vice president for Product Management Mo Versi confirmed that HTC One M9 users under T-Mobile and Verizon will receive the Android 5.1.1 OTA on July 20.
The HTC executive did not drop dates when the Android M update will be released to HTC devices, but it will most likely be released 90 days after the Android M was made public.
