"NCIS" Season 13 is months away from its premiere. However, rumours and speculations regarding its plot details are already running rampant. Based on latest reports, it can be said Mark Harmon's Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs is alive and coming back. Meanwhile, Michael Weatherly's Agent Anthony DiNozzo will be taking on a bigger role in the agency. Read on to find out more details.

"NCIS" Season 12 finale saw the death of Agent Ned Dorneget. The episode ended with a major cliffhanger. Luke Harris, the young boy, shot Gibbs in his chest multiple times leaving him wounded. But Gibbs' fate remains unknown. Whether he came out of it alive or not is expected to be revealed at the beginning of CBS' long-running police procedural's Season 13.
According to TV Line, the leading actor has renewed his contract for at least another instalment. Ressured assured Mark Harmon will reprise the role of Agent Gibbs in "NCIS" Season 13.
However, "NCIS" Executive Producer Gary Glasberg is yet to confirm the news. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the EP said that they deliberately filmed the final scene in "frenetic and chaotic manner" that it would leave fans "unsettled and unsure of where we're headed" to in the next season. Glasberg also revealed that Season 13 will pick up from right where it left off in Season 12 finale.
Meanwhile, rumours claim that that Michael Weatherly character agent DiNozzo will be seen in larger role in Season 13. According to Latin Post, DiNozzo is expected to lead the agency while Gibbs is still recovering from the attack.
The abovementioned website notes that DiNozzo was seen getting in touch with chief of the The Calling, Daniel Budd. This may mean that DiNozzo will lead the mission as the leader.
The rumour about DiNozzo assuming the leader's role emerged reportedly after "NCIS" Executive Producer Gary Glasberg interview.
Meanwhile, "NCIS" has begun filming for Season 13. As teased by actors' on their Twitter account, the show has already filmed its first few scenes. Actor Michael Weatherly posted a picture of him on his social media account with a caption: "Lucky 13! Ncis back in action... "
Actress Pauley Perrette, who plays the role of forensic scientist Abby Sciuto, also shared a message with thousands of her fans informing them about the latest on "NCIS" Season 13. On her Twitter account, the actress wrote: It's ON! First scenes for #NCIS #S13 shot today ( @mostx1 is our writer Scott, who we love!)"
