Patricia Masten, a 65-year-old former bunny who used to work at the Playboy Club in Chicago, considers the 10 years she was employed as mother bunny to other waitresses of the club the best years of her life. She said it was like attending a party every day, except one day in 1979 when a celebrity allegedly raped her.
Since 1974, comedian Bill Cosby was a regular customer of the Playboy Club at Michigan and Walton Street which explains why the bunnies, including Masten, was not threatened by the actor when he invited her for lunch at Banquet on the Bun, a hot dog shop.
The next day, their date was dinner at the Whitehall Hotel where there were four other men at the hotel room when Masten arrived. She ordered a Grand Marnier and woke up at 4 a.m. the next day naked, bruised and battered with Cosby beside her, also with no clothes on.
"I slithered out of the bed. I got my clothes and went downstairs and got into a cab," Chicago Tribune quotes Masten who said she took a shower when she got home and then reported for work at Playboy Club.
Later in the day, Cosby sent her a four-foot ficus tree with an instruction on how to care for it. She threw away the plant and tried to avoid the comedian, including invitations to go out and requests to pass on similar invitations to other bunnies in the club.
Her supervisor, whom Masten told of the incident, advised the mother bunny to just shut up because nobody would believe her.
Three decades later, Masten and 34 other alleged victims of Cosby spoke up finally and even took part in a photo shoot that was New York Magazine's cover on Monday. With the women - whose ages range from early 20s to 80 - is an empty chair which Thinkprogress believes is waiting for the next victim to speak up and move from anonymity.
According to the magazine, many of the victims said they know of other Cosby's victims who have not yet gone public with their stories. Thinkprogress notes the continuous defense by the comedian's lawyers and other representatives despite mounting evidence that "Cosby is a serial rapist."
