MLS teams Sporting Kansas City and Real Salt Lake are set to meet each other in the semifinal of the 2015 US Open Cup at the Sporting Park in Kansas City on Wednesday, August 12. The winner of this match will enter the tourney's final and face the victor of the other semis encounter between the Philadelphia Union and Chicago Fire.
Both teams overcame tremendous odds in their quarterfinal games to set this highly-anticipated contest.
Sporting KC came from behind to beat the Houston Dynamo in their quarter's bout, 3-1, as per SB Nation. Dynamo forward Will Bruin put his team ahead in the 58th-minute mark to momentarily scare Peter Vermes' men, but the Wizards fought back in the second half, beginning in the 72nd-minute, making one goal after another to end the match in regulation time ahead by two points.
Meanwhile, the Royals defeated heavy favorites LA Galaxy in their own quarterfinal encounter, 1-0, as reported by the US Open Cup's official website.
Defender Aaron Maund provided the winning goal for Jeff Cassar's squad, which eventually spoiled the Los Galácticos debut of veteran midfielder Steven Gerrard, who was a recent acquisition for LA and had played for Liverpool in the Premier League since 1998.
The prediction is a 2-1 win by Sporting KC over La Realeza. Midfielder Benny Feilhaber will again pace the team in scoring. If the Royals will not be able to contain him, then they will not stand a chance.
