Social network giant Facebook is re-release its Notes app and plans to make it as its flagship app in the blogging platform. Facebook made a major overhaul on the old Notes app and many tech analysts said that the newly designed app is designed to rival the blogging platform Medium.
Posts made via the new Facebook Notes are wider and can now incorporate a bigger cover image. Additionally, the texts are now large and presents a clearer headline. A Facebook spokesperson told The Verge, "We're testing an update to Notes to make it easier for people to create and read longer-form stories on Facebook."
For now, the update is only available to a small group of people but it will not be long before the company release it to all its users.
According to The Next Web, an update to the new Notes will feature the inclusion of cover photos, photo resizing, user tagging and the ability to incorporate links and hashtags on posts. The update will also allow users to restrict access to their posted notes, just like the option available for normal posts.
When Facebook announced that it is revamping Note, analysts were quick to point that it is part of the company's plan to encourage its users to write longer blog posts. These posts will be native to the social network website thus making it faster to load through its mobile app.
Currently, Medium is the standard platform used by many journalists and professionals working in blogs, media and technology. While Facebook might be able to entice this specific group of users, its own user base of around 1.4 billion monthly active users is large enough to make Notes popular in the blogging market.
