NBC will strengthen "The Voice" when it comes back in September for season 9. It is official that Selena Gomez will join the crew as an adviser.
Gomez is not the only star singer to be featured in "The Voice" season 9 since Rihanna will also join as a guest adviser at some stage in the season 9. However, her role may slight be different from Gomez's.
Gomez will be advising Gwen Stefani's team. Rihanna will also join Team Stefani but she will not be restricted to a single team. She will be advising all the four judges, which gives some balanced efficacy for Stefani, Blake Shelton, and Pharrell Williams.
According to International Business Times, Stefani will take over the coach's chair from Christina Aguilera who chaired in "The Voice" season 8. Stefani will join Adam Levine, Shelton and Williams in choosing and training a group of singers through the competition.
As these four individuals will make the show's frequent judges, Gomez will be working as a celebrity adviser for Team Stefani at some stage in "The Voice" season 9. In season 8 where the 16-year-old sensation Sawyer Fredericks emerged as the winner, celebrity advisers were Reba McEntire and Nate Ruess.
Talking to the People Magazine, Gomez said, "I'm learning a lot being here. I have been in a transition period with my music, so it is inspiring. I love being in the presence of women, especially women who are so comfortable in their own skin and support other women."
"The Voice" debuts Sept. 21 on NBC.
